FST to present new peroxide-crosslinked fluoroelastomer at drinktec 2022

Weinheim, Germany – Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) is introducing a new high-performance rubber which it says meets the latest regulatory requirements for food contact while addressing the temperature and media resistance needs within the food sector.

To be launched at the drinktec trade show in Munich next month, the material is a new peroxide-crosslinked fluoroelastomer material (75 FKM 239961), said FST in a statement 31 Aug.

Compliant with the current regulatory requirements for food contact, the rubber material is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -25 °C to + 200 °C.

It also offers “outstanding resistance” to various aggressive media that can degrade EPDM and HNBR rubber materials, FST added.

Currently, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies manufactures O-rings from the fluororubber but expects to begin producing ‘customer-specific’ parts with the materials in the near term.

FST will also display its Quantix 77-8FG polymer which it describes as “a competitive alternative to PTFE [Polytetrafluoroethylene]” with “outstanding permeation properties”.

This polymer is claimed to feature “good tribological properties, excellent impact resistance and a long service life.”

The material, according to FST, it particularly suitable for sealing and wiper elements, guide and bearing elements, and anti-extrusion elements in high-pressure applications.
